After six successful rounds of the GGF program (GGF 2020, 2022, 2025, 2027, 2030 and 2035), the alumni group has over 150 members – from Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Africa, and the United States. They come from the public sector, the private sector, academia, and civil society organizations, and were selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants by the GGF steering committee.
The GGF alumni group regularly organizes events, social gatherings, and discussion rounds in the capitals of GGF participating countries. To date, there have been two alumni reunions, one in Washington, DC, in 2015, immediately following the last dialogue session of GGF 2025, the second in Berlin in 2017, immediately following the last dialogue session of GGF 2027.

Berlin 2017 Alumni Reunion
The second GGF alumni reunion took place in June 2017 and was hosted by the Robert Bosch Stiftung Berlin Representative Office and the Hertie School of Governance.

During the alumni reunion, 25 alumni joined the current fellows (at the time) in Berlin. Fellows presented the results of a GGF alumni network analysis and participated in self-organized activities to deepen the network.

We encourage our alumni to look ahead to future GGF generations and to help shape the alumni network. A key aspect of GGF is building and maintaining relationships between the participants in the hope that further projects and ideas can flourish. During our reunion meetings, we arranged breakout sessions to embolden the alumni present to voice their thoughts on how best to advance the network.

On the final day of the alumni reunion, the fellows were joined by Soli Özel (Kadir Has University) and Fyodor Lukyanov (Russia in Global Affairs), who discussed the idea of a post-western order. The discussion was moderated by Wolfgang Reinicke (GPPi).

The GGF alumni and the program team competed in a 5K relay race in Berlin’s Tiergarten park.
Washington, DC, 2015 Alumni Reunion
The first reunion took place in May 2015, in Washington, DC. The alumni took part in a number of activities designed to get them to reflect on their experiences of GGF. They also had the chance to discuss all the reports developed by GGF 2025 and to make their own suggestions.
